Very first direct container train from Vienna South station to China.

Vienna, 2020 August 20th, 11am : The very first direct container train from Austria departed today from Vienna South station to China. The train covers 10,460 kilometers in 16 days, offering a fast, cheap and environmentally-friendly transport alternative between Austria and China. The new rail link connects Austria even more with the OBOR program (One Belt, One Road). The train is operated by Nunner Logistics.

This first full container train departed with goods exclusively “Made in Austria” from Lenzing Group and left the terminal “Wien-Süd” towards China on 20 August 2020 at 11:00 am.
The departure of the train was escorted by, Leonore Gewessler, Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, His Excellency Xiaosi Li, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Stefan Doboczky, Chairman of Lenzing Group , Thomas Kargl Board Member ÖBB Rail Cargo Group and our own Erwin Cootjans, CEO Nunner Logistics.
